ANMF Job Reps contribute to a fairer and safer workplace and play a crucial role in connecting the ANMF (Vic Branch) and nurses, midwives and carers in the workplace. Most importantly, Job Reps support and advise members on when and how to seek advice and assistance from ANMF.
Our Job Reps assist in promoting policies and campaigns, encouraging their fellow colleagues to join, participate in enterprise bargaining agreement negotiations and promote events and activities happening within the Branch.

Nothing. Like most trade unions, ANMF relies heavily on a network of workplace-based reps to ensure our union can promote and defend the industrial, professional, occupational health and safety, social, political and democratic values and interests of our members across Victoria.
At the ANMF, we refer to Union Delegates as Job Reps, but the two terms are interchangeable.
If you’re interested in becoming a Job Rep, please refer to Become a Job Rep brochure [PDF].
In addition to enhancing your workplace environment and championing high-quality, safe care for the community, you’ll also benefit from:
Yes, this is a voluntary role, and any level of active participation is encouraged.
We understand individual Job Reps will determine their level of commitment based on their unique personal and professional situations.
There is no limit to the number of Job Reps a ward/unit/workplace can have. The ANMF recommends having at least 2 Job Reps per workplace.
The more Job Reps the better!
Yes! This can be a very effective method of addressing workplace issues.
Members who hold the dual position often develop a valuable combination of skills and influence.
The Fair Work Act and many enterprise agreements provide for specific rights and protections for members that undertake the important role and work of a Job Rep.
Job Reps cannot be adversely impacted or discriminated against for the work and activities they do as a Job Rep.
You can check specific entitlements available to Job Reps, such as paid leave to complete training, in your workplace by accessing your enterprise agreement which can be found in the Members Portal.
ANMF (Vic Branch) provide complimentary training programs for Job Reps. For those working in the Public Sector, ‘Paid Union Training Leave’ is available which means training is completed during work hours, not in your own time. For those working in other sectors, please refer to your workplace’s Enterprise Agreement or your relevant Award for specific leave entitlements to attend training.

If you transfer to a different ward or unit under the same workplace/campus, your status as a Job Representative will continue to be valid. If you transition to a new workplace/campus, your Job Representative status will be discontinued.
In this case, you will need to undergo the nomination process again at your new workplace. This process will be triggered automatically, once you notify us of your new workplace.
You can stop being a Job Rep at any time. To do this simply send an email advising of this decision to [email protected] and include your name, member number and workplace.
This annual two-day conference is attended by approximately 800 Job Representatives and Health & Safety Representatives from across the state. The agenda includes guest speakers and covers a range of topics, including professional, industrial, occupational health and safety and social justice issues.
Job Representatives are given the opportunity to submit motions for debate and vote at the conference. The conference gives our representatives and members a direct voice in setting the Branch agenda.
The Annual Delegates Conference is an authorised union education and training activity. This means you can use paid union training leave if available to you under your Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA) or Award to attend the conference.
Job Reps can view our upcoming training programs on the ANMF (Vic Branch) website.
You will need to log in to the Delegates Portal using your member number and password to register for any upcoming training.
If you have any issues with your login details, you can contact [email protected] for assistance.
If no upcoming training is scheduled in your area, you are welcome to attend a program conducted at the ANMF (Vic Branch) office in Melbourne’s CBD or register for an online program.
There is no requirement to complete the Job Rep Training programs in any specific order.
Ideally, Job Reps would complete the Job Rep Foundations training program within 3 months of becoming a Job Rep.
This can be followed by participation in one of our Keeping It Organised programs.
